  2. Dark urine. The color of your urine is a good hydration indicator. Dark yellow or orange urine means it’s too concentrated, and you should drink more water. Healthy urine should be light yellow or nearly colorless.
  3. Fatigue and weakness. Dehydration slows blood circulation, reducing oxygen delivery to the brain and muscles, causing fatigue and low energy.
  4. Headaches and dizziness. Dehydration can cause or worsen headaches and lightheadedness.
  5. Dry skin. It decreases skin elasticity and moisture, making it dry and dull.
  6. Reduced urination. If you haven’t urinated in 6–8 hours, it’s a sign of serious water deficiency.

How to maintain proper hydration

For adults, it is generally recommended to drink 2–2.5 liters (about 8–10 cups) of fluids daily. However, this may vary depending on activity level, climate, and health condition.

Practical tips:

  • Always carry a water bottle with you — it will remind you to drink regularly.
  • Start your day with a glass of water to wake up your body.
  • Use reminders or apps if you often forget to drink.
  • Add flavor — if plain water feels boring, infuse it with lemon, cucumber, or mint.
  • Eat water-rich foods such as watermelon, cucumber, oranges, and strawberries.
